NEMACOLIN OFF-ROAD DRIVING ACADEMY

The Hummer® is made to do amazing things, and the Off-Road Driving Academy at Nemacolin Woodlands has the only courses in the country constructed soley to show off its impressive off-road capabilities.
You'll crawl up 22-inch vertical steps. Inch down rocky descents. Power up 31-degree slopes. And see for yourself why the military chooses these vehicles for the rigors of everyday use.

THE ROCK
This instructional course is designed to demonstrate the Hummer's capabilities and introduce you to proper off-road driving techniques.
Trainning takes place on the observation deck as well as behind the wheel.

THE CRATER
A seven-acre, mile long course with several water-fording ponds, multiple climbs, awkward desccents, moguls and much more; it puts your new skills to use on a larger, more elaborate course.
Both The Rock and The Crater have been designed with enviornmently friendly principles in mind. Each course has a driving surface that minimizes erosion to help alleviate runoff. Fording sites were built specifically for off-roading by isolating water into ponds.


THE TRAILS
Over 600 wooded acres and over 20 miles of terrain loaded with every type of obstacle imaginable, muddy ponds, logs, precarious side slopes, rock crossings, steep inclines and verticle ledges. All your experience from the previous two courses comes into play as you navigate each obstacle with confidence and grace.
The Off-Road Driving Academy promotes the Tread Lightly® principles. Tread Lightly® is a non-profit organization that educates recreationalists from hikers to off-roaders on responsible, low impact ways to enjoy the enviornment.
